Indications for a Sleep Test adopted by the FastMed National Medical Director.

STOPBANG Score of 5 or greater. 

BMI greater than 33. 
NOTE: When a driver wishes to utilize health insurance, it is important to document clinical indications that contributed to a provider’s decision to order a sleep test. Other clinical indications for a sleep test might include:
  • Hypertension
  • Daytime sleepiness or non-restorative sleep
  • Observed apnea episodes
  • Load or disruptive snoring
  • Waking with a feeling of choking
  • Waking with a headache
  • Frequent nighttime bathroom use

What happens next?

A Support Team member will contact the driver to confirm the details of the test typically within one business day of receiving the medical order.

Snap coordinates delivery of the Snap Recorder to the patient’s home.

Driver takes test and returns sleep kit to Snap

The patient will follow a simple protocol for an at-home sleep test. Video, website instruction, and phone support are available during the testing.

Instructions on how to return the recorder to Snap are included.

Snap professionals generate a test report

Professionally trained technicians analyze every minute of raw data for every report. Snap’s Medical Director oversees Snap’s service and quality control.

The FastMed provider will receive a copy of the sleep test report that has been interpreted by an Sleep Specialist. Snap personnel is available for education and review of the test report if needed.

What if the Driver needs treatment?

We Listened.

Per the FastMed protocol, Snap sends every driver’s Sleep Test Report to Singular Sleep at the same time it is sent to FastMed.

If the driver requires treatment a trained professional at Singular Sleep will contact the driver to schedule an online eConsult to assist with ordering needed treatment.

When the treatment decision is PAP, the driver can elect to order PAP from Singular Sleep or use a local DME.

When a driver tests positive for Sleep Apnea, you can also facilitate the treatment process by encouraging drivers to proactively contact Singular when they are seeking treatment.
